Welcome

Freemasonry is a fraternal association dedicated to making good men better.  It teaches moral lessons to its members through dramatic presentations, but it has no theology and respects the religious beliefs of all of its members.  The roots of Freemasonry can be traced back to the guilds of stone masons who built the medieval castles and cathedrals.  These guilds eventually transformed into fraternal organizations known as Lodges.  The first formal organization of such Lodges was created when the Grand Lodge of England was formed in 1717.  Freemasonry spread to the United States and elsewhere around the world, leading to the creation of new Lodges and Grand Lodges such as the Grand Lodge of Ohio (founded in 1808), under whose authority Lakewood Lodge is chartered.  Lakewood Lodge traces its roots back to 1908.

Lakewood Lodge holds three meetings each month except July and August--two stated meetings for business and one special meeting for special events or the initiation of new members.  The Lodge calendar typically includes other traditional programs and events such as the Children's Christmas Party, Summer Picnic, Service Award Presentations, Rededication Night, Past Masters' Recognition, and Memorial Service for Deceased Brethren.

Any man who is nineteen years of age or older and of good moral character, who has resided in Ohio for at least one year, who comes well recommended and who believes in a Supreme Being may petition to become a Freemason in Ohio.  For information on membership, please contact the Lodge Secretary.
